Discovery for Product Development

The Problem

Grupo HPB is a Guatemalan company that designs, builds and markets real estate projects. They wanted to create an app that would integrate their 3 main products: Investments, Property Management and Partial Ownership of Developments. They had a lot of stakeholders and needed help thinking through how to best integrate the 3 products and they wanted a plan to design and develop the app.

The Solution

Cognits recommended starting with a discovery project in order to transform their idea for an app into a holistic product plan. We started with an interactive in-person workshop which quickly and efficiently immersed the team on all the research the Grupo HPB team had collected to date and their vision and aspirations for the app.

We created 3 plans to start the implementation:

1. Product Plan - we first conducted 15 stakeholder interviews to understand all the needs and use cases. We mapped out user stories to articulate the requirements and needs for the software. We then developed prototypes of the experience to begin to visualize the app. We developed a roadmap outlining all the different components of the project with specific timing.

2. Development Plan - the technical overview and technical architecture plan were documented with recommendations on technologies and integrations.

3. QA Plan - the Quality Assurance test plan was developed in order to test the implementation of the app at each stage to ensure the app meets software requirements at each milestone in development.
